For its price point amazing laptop just has a poor Google UI that you can change manually

Super impressed with the quality of this laptop. So long as you know what you’re getting into with a Chromebook, I recommend this very highly. You won’t find a laptop with comparable build quality and performance for this price.

Looks good, unfortunately Chromebook was not ideal for me as not compatible with Microsoft 365 and needs use of internet for daily use. I had to change to a laptop.

Boots up quickly. Decent screen and responsive Chromebook accessing websites quickly . Also delighted it worked furst time with my docking station providing me three screens without any of the setup fuss you get continually with a Windows machine. Very happy with my purchase.

Lets start with this review with the obligatory ‘know what you are buying’ discussion.
I think a lot of the negative reviews of chromebooks come from people who simply don’t research what they are purchasing, and probably wanted a windows laptop, but ultimately bought a chromebook because they tend to be cheaper, and then found out that they won’t run the application/game they intended to use that probably would work on a windows laptop.
If that’s case for you, don’t buy a chromebook!
If however you are someone who uses google based products – Chrome, YouTube, Google Docs, Google Sheets, and also used an android phone without the need to play the latest game on Steam or needing to install a particular windows based software package then read on.
This chromebook is remarkable value at the priced i paid (£219).
Lets look at the components.
The Core I3 CPU is more than adequate for the demands of the operating system. You can have multiple tabs in chrome open at the same time, perhaps watching a video on YouTube/Netflix etc., and you won’t notice any significant drop in performance.
This is supported by the 8gb of available memory. I wouldn’t recommend buying a machine with 4gb, or indeed a standard chromebook – you will get frustrated on with how sluggish they can be, but on this chromebook plus model, you won’t have that issue.
The screen quality is excellent, and much better than on many more expensive windows based machines you may find which tend to offer TN based panels that have washed out colours and poor viewing angles. The IPS screen on this machine is excellent for getting things done, and watching films or TV shows on the various streaming services is an enjoyable experience.
The keyboard whilst not being backlit, is typical of Lenovo’s reputation for quality, and offers an excellent typing experience.
I do find the touchpad to at times be a little unresponsive, but this can be negated by making changes in the software settings. I also tend to use a wireless mouse, so this is not an issue for me.
Battery life is excellent. This will vary on your usage, but i would estimate 8-10 hours for general use.
Build quality is also very good. Whilst the materials are plastic, the device feels very solid and well built, and doesn’t show any signs of flex or give the feeling that its easily breakable as with most cheap windows laptops.
So in conclusion, if your intention is to web browse, use YouTube, edit documents in google docs/sheets, and make use of the streaming services available, and you already use google services, then I really can’t recommend this device enough, especially at the low price I paid. If however you really want a windows based machine and are looking at this device because its cheap, do yourself a favour, spend a bit more money and get the windows device you really want. You’ll just end up frustrated otherwise and be another one of those people who leaves a one star review because you’ve bought a Chromebook that wont play the latest game or similar.

have been using this for a few weeks, my first Chromebook. was really easy to set it up, just linked it to my Android phone. Struggled a bit to get on with the trackpad but I’ve since bought a bluetooth keyboard and mouse which I prefer.

I bought this a stop gap machine when made redundant (so had to hand back Macbook), whilst I determined what to do next and therefore if I needed a specific type of machine or a new role would provide one. I was able to progress all activities on this machine and it has not held me back in hardly any tasks, apart from some aspects related to MS Teams or certain apps that do not allow some aspects like backgrounds to be changed on Chromebooks. This was very minor and did not hold me back at all. Performance is great and able ot have multiople windows open, download a few apps, have access to all things that I need. The fact it opens straight up was a great feature for the price too.
The battery life is great and can last a good chunk of the day depending on what you are doing and you can have multiple tabs, groups and browsers open as well as a few apps downloaded too. Cannot fault the performance,
I was able to connect to everything that I needed too especially WiFis, apps and other external devices such as phones, other machines, printers, keyboards and mouse. I was also able to utilise a variety of bluetooth devices and the I was able to keep the tabs open across devices too – which is a great help if you swithc between chromebook, phone and/or other device.
The display has all that you need, is sharp, clear and the camera was also great and good enough for Zoom, Teams, Google Meet meetings. I have also used for watching things whilst travelling and it was a good enough quality for seeing live sports or films.
So far durabilty has been fine. I have travelled with it and its a sold built piece of kit but is still lightweight.
To say that Chromebooks are touted as being lighter weight machines – this chromebook is a great bit of kit that enables you to do most activities and not have to rush into purchasing expensive kit.

I bought this a few weeks ago and I am delighted with both battery life and performance. The cover that came with it is also a big bonus
