I’m not too sure… Used it a little, so not used all fearures, but a couple of things are annoying. The volume adjustment is not gradual enough, so at night time, it’s either too loud or too quiet… Also, the blue light can’t be turned off, when Alexa speaks at night time,

This is a great purchase, very easy to use and and the sound output is great. Easy to set up and connect to devices. Had to check what the different coloured lights meant but very good product. Would highly recommend. My children love using it too

This was a birthday pressie to myself, I love it! – Very easy to set up, sounds brilliant and look great in my kitchen……there is nothing I don’t like about it – maybe I should have got one sooner!

Having previously bought the 4th generation full size Echo I’d like to make a few quick comparisons to this Echo Dot Max which replaced it. The previous 4th gen was larger and had three built in speakers (two 0.8” tweeters and one 3” woofer), in theory giving you stereo sound, although in reality the stereo separation is barely perceptible. The new dot max instead has one 0.8” tweeter and one 2.5” woofer. Sound wise the 4th generation sounds generally better overall but anyone buying the dot max wouldn’t be disappointed as it sounds pretty good for its size, especially compared to the smaller dot. Smart features on the dot max are comparable to the 4th generation with just an upgraded processor and a few other tweaks, mostly aimed at future ai capabilities. Both the 4th Gen Echo and Dot Max feature built-in Zigbee hub, with Thread and Matter support. The 4th Gen Echo includes a 3.5mm audio output, which the Dot Max lacks. Bluetooth is included on both devices.
In all the newer echo dot max is a bit of a mixed bag depending upon your needs. If you have a 4th gen Echo then you probably don’t need this newer speaker. If deciding between the Dot Max and the smaller Dot I’d go for the Max.
